People Without Homes & Homes Without People

The New York City Right to the City Alliance has come out with a fantastic new report on vacant housing and homelessness in NYC. “People Without Housing and Housing Without People: A Count of Vacant Condos in Select NYC Neighborhoods" was created through a long term participatory research project, which canvassed nine low income neighborhoods in New York to identify housing units that are currently vacant. Their survey discovered over 4,000 completed units, many of them luxury condominiums, that stand vacant in neighborhoods suffering from a lack of affordable housing and homelessness.

Read the findings of their report, as well as their policy recommendations to create long term affordable housing and end gentrification, on the Right to the City website.
